In the first leg played at Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi, Uganda vaporized Kenya with a 7-2 win to stand a better advantage.
According to the FIFA U20 coach Ayub Khalifa Kiyinji, the team is still focused on winning the home encounter. He also insisted that the first leg result has been put behind them now.
‘’Since playing the first game we have tried to tell the players the contest is not yet done. We could have earned a good advantage in the first leg but that doesn’t mean we rest on our laurels,’’ he said.
Kiyinji further stated that anything can happen in the game of football. He further added that given the previous result, he expects a better Kenya in Friday’s game. He said it is possible for Kenya to come to Uganda and win the game.
‘’So there is no room for complacency and we are treating the game like any other,’’ he said.
Captain Fauzia Najjemba is well aware of what it means to play at home and believes this is one motivating factor ahead of the game.
She said the team seeks to defend its territory and win at home. This is because with the backing of Ugandans, they would not want to disappoint.
The winner between Kenya and Uganda will face South Africa in the qualifiers’ second round after they eliminated Mozambique.
