Ugandan Animation Studios Shine On Global Stage

Two Ugandan animation studios and animators have achieved a significant milestone by being chosen among the top 10 East African animators to showcase their work at the prestigious Annecy International Animation Film Market.

The Annecy International Animation Film Market, held in conjunction with the renowned Annecy International Animation Film Festival, is hailed as the premier gathering in the animation industry, with a rich history dating back to 1960.

Ugandan creativity takes center stage

The talented individuals representing Uganda at this esteemed event are Creatures Animation, led by Raymond Malinga (@RayMalinga), and Katoto Cartoons, founded by Richard Musinguzi.

While the competition was fierce, with entries pouring in from Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, and South Sudan, these two Ugandan animation studios stood out among the rest, with only a total of ten animators securing a coveted spot.

A heartfelt congratulations to the selected Ugandan animators, whose dedication and creativity have earned them a well-deserved place on the global stage.
