Ugandan Woman Surprisingly Delivers Healthy Baby On Plane, Passengers Were Amazed

A Canadian doctor identified as Aisha Khatib who was traveling to Uganda in early December 2021 has finally shared her joy on her twitter handle after helping a Ugandan woman give birth to a baby she named as miracle during the overnight flight.

Aisha Khatib, a professor at the University of Toronto in Canada was en route to Entebbe International Airport when the airline operators asked if there was a doctor on board, of which she responded.

According to a report from BCC, a Ugandan woman who was travelling back home from Saudi Arabia was about to give birth to her first child when the call was made.

I see a crowd of people gathered around the patient,” Dr Khatib told BBC News adding that at that point she was assuming it was a critical situation, like a heart attack.

As I got closer I see this woman lying on the seat with her head toward the aisle and feet towards the window. And the baby was coming out!” she added.

The doctor, who looked so tired from exhausting work schedule back in covid-19 plagued Toronto, Canada, was enjoying a fully-deserved rest on her trip.

The Ugandan woman delivered a healthy baby

She quickly responded when a voice on the intercom asked if there was a doctor on aboard.

The healthy baby girl who was born at 35 weeks, was named Miracle Aisha, after the doctor who in return, gave the baby a gold necklace she was putting on bearing her name Aisha written in Arabic.

I thought I’d give it to her and she’ll have a little token of the doctor that delivered her 35,000ft in the air while flying over the Nile,” she said.

Doctor Aisha was helped by two other passengers – an oncology nurse and pediatrician from MSF (Doctors Without Borders) who was handed the baby for thorough inspection.

After a proper confirmation that both the Ugandan woman and her newborn were okay, she congratulated her and announced it was a healthy baby girl.

“Then the entire plane started clapping and cheering and was like ‘Oh right, I’m on a plane and everybody is watching this,” she narrated.

“The best part of the story is that she decided to name the baby after me,” she added.
