Pep Guardiola’s side had beaten the Gunners for 12 straight games. In fact, Arsenal had last beaten the Cityzens in 2015. However, an 86th-minute Gabriel Martinelli goal secured all three points for Arsenal.
As if Arsenal fans all over the world have the same traits, they sent social media into a meltdown including their own communities. Up to now, fans are still supporting. And for the Ugandan fans, they are always known for taking it a step further.
Taking to their X page, FDC said such a day will come when it’s not just football making Ugandans this loud. It will in fact be political and not football. This will be the day that President Yoweri Museveni and all his elements have vanquished power.
Furthermore, the Najjanankumbi-based party congratulated the Gunners for this win. They then added that football is a culture of peace and human rights.
“This overwhelmingly positive noise from the Arsenal fans, shall be the same noise that Ugandans will laud with when Gen. Museveni and elements of his forces are vanquished. Kudos to our Arsenal members, football is a culture of Peace and respect for human rights.”
However, it’s not clear if the blue opposition party will be the one to deliver this promise. The party has its own problems and might vanish before the regime they dream of toppling.
Currently, FDC has two warring factions. One is known as the Katonga faction led by Dr. Kiiza Besigye, Erias Lukwago, Ssemujju Nganda among others.
Patrick Amuriat Oboi and Nandala Mafabi lead the Najjanankumbi faction. This clamped down its authority on the official party premises with a delegates’ conference last week.
