This is so, especially with the ‘big three’ artistes in Uganda namely; Bebe Cool, Bobi Wine and Dr Jose Chameleone.
Isma further revealed that Eddy Kenzo had broken this chain and penetrated it but his separation from Rema weakened him.
Together, the two were able to weather down any competition. However, after their separation, their fan base split weakening both of them.
“Uganda’s biggest music problem is cultism. I think Eddy Kenzo almost broke it but he separated with Rema. Their strength combined was unbeatable if they had continued together,” Isma Olaxees revealed.
Isma further said that matter of fact music and days have changed and gone by. Therefore, those who used to lead are no longer the ones leading.
He cited an example of the ratings on music streaming platform, Spotify where Eddy Kenzo is currently leading most of the founding mainstream artists.
This conversation sprung up after Gravity Omutujju trashed the big three Bebe Cool, Bobi Wine and Dr Jose Chameleone whom he said are outdated.
Isma concurred with Gravity on this. He said that if the three were put on the same stage with the Tusimbudde singer, he would outcompete them.
However, Bobi Wine, Bebe Cool and Dr Jose Chameleone have some of the most loyal fans. These are ready to ride and die for their musicians and can’t allow any comparison to any of the post-2005 artists.
