She made this revelation during the 35-year anniversary of the Entebbe Church of Uganda Archdeaconry on Sunday. She said because of the able Museveni leadership, the country has registered growth.
She gave examples of sectors like transport, industry, power, and ICT. For that reason, she appealed to the people to support the President and give him another term in office.
“From your faces and body language, I can see you are ready to give him more time in State House… Pulezidenti Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ajja kuba naffe mu 2026 mu kulonda era wakubawo nga okulonda kuwedde! Nsaba mu muwagile nga mwebadde mukola bulijjo [President Museveni will still be with us in 2026 and he will contest and be there after the elections. Please, support him like you have always done.]” Alupo said in Luganda probably to reach an even wider audience.
She added saying that with that speech, no one will say that the message didn’t get shared. The reassurance of Museveni’s return comes as his son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba is holding campaigns of his own. Many have viewed Muhoozi’s moves as laying grounds for him to succeed his father in 2026.
His supporters have been facing detention as a way to mitigate confusion in the NRM party. However, despite their detention, they have revealed that it is time for Museveni to retire and make way for the younger generation.
Alupo unveiled a plaque to signify the start of works to change the Archdeaconry headquarter look. She also planted a tree in memory of the day.
Seven local and international bishops including retired Namirembe diocese head, Bishop Balagadde Ssekkadde attended the ceremony.
