Ykee Benda Jokes About Missing Out

We Don’t Need You – Ykee Benda To Bivulu Promoters

Musician Wycliffe Tugume aka Ykee Benda, has come out to blast Bivulu promoters saying musicians don’t need them. It should be recalled that promoters a few days ago revealed that they won’t be organizing shows for the next few months.

They said that artistes’ prices are so high and they don’t earn a profit. They even released a list of prices for each artist to perform for in Kampala. And this has led to a verbal exchange between these promoters and musicians.

For Ykee Benda, they don’t actually need these promoters to thrive. He said that for the 6 years for instance he’s been in the industry, Bajjo has never hired him.

The Mpaka Records boss added that what these promoters forget is that taxes keep going higher. So even if the singers accept a pay cut, the taxes won’t be reduced.

“What doesn’t make sense shouldn’t be given time. All those promoters such as Bajjo are useless. For the 6 years I have been in the industry, Bajjo has never hired me. They forget that taxes don’t change when we reduce our prices. And we keep getting taxed heavily on meager pay,” said Ykee Benda during the press conference of Chameleone’s Gwanga Mujje concert launch.

Ykee Benda also addressed Dr Jose Chameleone’s recent saga where he canned a boda boda cyclist.

The Farma singer said that although what Chameleone did was wrong, these cyclists need to behave. He gave an example of himself. Benda said that a boda boda once knocked him and he ended up being the one to pay.

Furthermore, the singer also revealed that he has an upcoming concert in May. When they asked which song will spearhead the show, he said none. This is because by his level, it’s an artist that spearheads a show and not a song.
