What Is Wrong With Bobi Wine’s Efforts To Help Ugandans In UAE, Hon. Asuman Basalirwa

Bugiri Municipality MP, Asuman Basalirwa has said he doesn’t find anything wrong with Bobi Wine’s efforts to help Ugandans in the United Arab Emirates. The NUP president embarked on helping Ugandans who cried out for help from UAE. However, his efforts have been interpreted as political strategies.

“What is wrong with Bobi Wine’s efforts of repatriating Ugandans from UAE? Even if it was for scoring political points, what’s wrong with it?Let’s not try to downplay the role of my brother Hon. Kyagulanyi in raising the voice on the situation of Ugandans in UAE,” Hon. Asuman Basalirwa said.

However, some citizens think Bobi Wine should teach youths how to do agriculture amidst crisis. This is so that they don’t have to go out looking for greener pastures.

“…and those who met Bobi wine at the airport as they were departing shall be asking for rescue in less than 1 year. Bobi should be teaching youth how 2 do agric amidst this crisis. And prepare them for the future. He has MPs who can enact laws to stop this senseless slavery,” a one Oscar Barigye said.

Asuman, however, says, as leaders, they should apologize to these Ugandans for not doing enough.

“I travel to Dubai regularly, and we have had a lot of discussions with Ugandans when we meet in Deira. Ugandans find themselves in UAE for different reasons, especially economic reasons. As a country, we should be apologizing to these Ugandans who are finding themselves in such unfortunate circumstances.”

A number of Ugandans now think the best thing to do is fly out of the country to improve themselves. However a number of girls have reported mistreatment but the government has not done much to help with this. Citizens too are not totally blameless because there are countries that were blacklisted by the government. These include; Oman, Saudi Arabia among others but people still go there anyway.
