When Should You Consider Commitment In A Relationship?

Is it that, the moment you start a relationship, you must be committed there and then? What is commitment anyway? According to the oxford dictionary, the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. Commitment means you’re completely giving yourself unto someone in this case and most possibly without the privilege of trying nothing else.

The truth is that sometimes we commit at the wrong time with the wrong person. Commitment should be processed as you get to know the person you’re relating with. At the point of dating, you’re not obliged to be committed because you’re still getting to know each other. At that point, you can choose to walk away if you don’t like what you see.

Some people, however, start even envisioning a wedding with a person they have just met. They close doors to anyone else because to them, they have got the one. Don’t get me wrong though, it doesn’t mean you should be in thousands of relationships because you’re not committed. Be with that one person but with an open mind.

Commitment should come when the two of you decide to make things official. Probably at the point of engagement, when both your families are involved in it. Now that is a good stage to be committed because at least it’s not just the two of you who know about you but the elders too. Only be committed when your heart and head are in it, its just so important.
