Band Music has for long been one of the best ways musicians came into the spotlight, however, recent events suggest the nom is becoming a thing of yesterday.
The heights where Band music had soared, no one expected that one-day people would frown their faces at the sound of it. Many things happened over time that just couldn’t leave band music to remain a darling in Uganda.
Probably when they looked at the changes that were taking place, band artists just didn’t think they would be swallowed up.
The music industry was taken over by young artists who changed the flow of music. They changed the lyrics, they changed the videos, they changed the sound. With time, the market was just awash with this new kind of music.
Unfortunately, band music kept behind. Music videos became more like short movies and this was very entertaining, unlike band music videos that were just on stage.
Band artists instead of working on themselves started blaming the media for downplaying them. What they didn’t see was that, music had taken a whole new turn.
They stuck on what they thought was good and the world left them. Meanwhile, the lyrics of band music have always been rich but the videos just remained poor. Perhaps this explains why they left them out.
Currently, we can’t say Ugandan music has made it yet, it’s still on a journey. The sooner band artists wake up to see this, the better.
Otherwise, we are also losing out on their good content. They should match up to the set level especially regarding the production of their music.
