Winnie Byanyima Decries Racial Harassment At Her Residence

The Executive Director of UNAIDS, Winnie Byanyima has come out to decry how she was racially harassed at her place of residence. It should be noted that she lives in Switzerland and she’s been there for quite a number of years.

Byanyima who is also the wife to seasoned politician, Dr Kizza Besigye through her Twitter page said that she has endured racist abuse for the past 3 years.

Apparently, she’s constantly targeted by security just for exercising in a certain public park. Someone yesterday called the cops on her and they rudely stopped her workout.

These cops also treated her like an intruder in her own space. And this is something that has been troubling her.

“I’ve had enough of racist harassment. For 3 yrs I’ve lived in a blg with this private park. Security constantly target me just for exercising in our park. Today he called the cops on me who rudely stopped my workout. The cops treated me like an intruder in my own space,” she said.

Several people took to her comment section to air their different opinions and among these included Andrew Mwenda. He said that he thought she lives in the likes of the US where there is total respect for human rights.

Byanyima meanwhile has been living in Europe for quite long. Her international status would at least have helped her to waive off this assault but it wasn’t the case.

Meanwhile Switzerland houses quite a number international organization offices. Therefore, it’s such a shame that this behavior is tolerated.
