Akinyi committed suicide after she allegedly failed to clear a loan of Kshs30,000 ( Ugx1050,000) from a local Chama (investment) group.
She took her life just adjacent to her rural home in Migoko Village, Kachola Sub Location after her loan repayment period elapsed and fellow members were on her neck.
Residents revealed that this woman took her life after experiencing too much pressure from fellow members after she failed to repay her loan in time.
The area assistant chief Mr Omollo Richard said the deceased’s husband revealed that his wife was over stressed by the unpaid loan from the local women financial group.
Even last year the same woman attempted to commit suicide over similar reasons,’said Mr Omollo.
“Mrs Akinyi attempted suicide in 2019 after she was overwhelmed with debts but fortunately, she was saved by some of her neighbours,” Mr Omollo said. She was rescued and her debt was cleared.
