In a chilling tale of love turned deadly, a woman identified as Ms Harriet Ampaire, 23, has been remanded by the Kasaali Grade 1 Magistrate in Kyotera district for the gruesome act of mutilating her boyfriend’s genitals.
The shocking incident unfolded after a simple domestic dispute, leading to a tragic end for Reagan Karamagi at the Uganda-Tanzania border.
As investigations into the matter remain incomplete, the state prosecutor, Ms Maureen Namusisi, seeks additional time to gather crucial evidence against this woman Ms Ampaire.
Presiding over the case, Magistrate Ignatius Ategeka concurs with the state’s request and orders Ampaire’s remand in Kasaali prison until August 14 for further mention of the case.
A deadly betrayal unfolds: The tragic consequences
Court records reveal that Ampaire, a former employee at a betting company, Fort Bet Uganda, carried out the heinous act on July 21 before fleeing to neighboring Tanzania.
Despite her attempt to evade capture, joint security operatives located and apprehended her. Meanwhile, Karamagi, a driver of imported vehicles at the Mutukula border, tragically lost his life as a result of the brutal attack.
In the midst of grief and the pursuit of justice, Robert Karamaji, the deceased’s brother, appeals to the court to transfer the case to Kasese due to the financial strain on the family members traveling to Kyotera. “We need to get justice for our deceased brother, but the distance is becoming a burden to us. The suspect is also from Kasese, and I think it would be better if we followed the case from our home area to minimize costs,” he expressed.
