In his tweet directed to Kyagulanyi, Rwomushana said that the NUP principal made unfortunate remarks while in Butambala. And because he had declared that Jamil Mukulu as his brother in the struggle, he should face the repercussions. Rwomushana added that Kyagulanyi’s People Power is the political wing of the ADF.
“In Butambala, I personally heard you declaring ADF was a liberation Organisation and therefore Jamil Mukulu was a prisoner of conscious. You declared he is your Comrade in struggle. Your gang is now the political wing. #Bakurahe,” Rwomushana told Bobi Wine.
For starters, Jamil Mukulu is the former leader of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels. He’s accused of perpetrating lots of crimes against humanity in the late 90’s and early 2000s particularly in Western Uganda. A notable one is when he burnt tens of students at Kicwamba technical Institute alive.
Mukulu who had been on the radar of the Ugandan government and ICC was arrested in Tanzania in 2015. He is currently awaiting trial.
While addressing a Muslim congregation, Kyagulanyi referred to Mukulu as “my brother” even saying they share the name Kyagulanyi.
Bobi Wine added that Mukulu is only being persecuted because of political reasons. This has however seen the ex-MP come under fire for these remarks.
