Museveni said that he disagreed with religion, especially the Scripture Union. This was over a couple of things but in this case material versus spiritual things.
Apparently, Mr. Museveni did not agree with the notion that humans are just visitors on earth. Or earthly things are like sand and waste away easily. He pointed out how his father, Mzee Amos Kaguta lived for 96 years.
He therefore wondered which visitor can stay on the earth for such long years yet they are just visitors.
“I disagreed with the scripture union on issues of Material vs Spiritual. Our preachers were saying “ebyensi nomushenyi, this world is not ours, we are just visitors. But my father Mzee Amos died at 96. What sort of visitor stays for 96 years!,” said the president.
This saw different people take this message to give their different opinions. Some saw it as humor and laughed about it. While others agreed and disagreed with Museveni.
Among the many opinions aired was that of singer Ray G. The Mureebe singer disagreed with the President by pointing out a scientific claim.
According to him and the claim he quoted, the earth has been around for billions of years. And if the President’s father was just 96 years, he was indeed a visitor.
“@Kagutamuseveni, Earth, the planet at which we are living this life, has 4.543 billion years. When you compare it to the 96 years of our great grandfather, surely he was a visitor,” the Western Ugandan musician said in a now deleted tweet.
