Gen. Mugisha Muntu has likened police to robots. The Alliance For National Transformation party president said that every officer has the power to study and analyze the atmosphere before taking any action.
Far from this, he thinks the police just simply acts without thinking or putting anything in consideration. The presidential candidate said this after the police and him failed to agree. The end result saw police kicking Muntu out of Moyo district.
Muntu said his team and him were moving as agreed by the electoral commission in a place where the required number of people at rallies were going to be. However the police failed to listen to this so he cancelled his open campaigns. Muntu then proceeded for a radio talk show.
“On arrival, we were barricaded by police, who insisted on a different plan of action, including the venue of our meeting. Their intentions as it has always been are to frustrate us into confrontation.” Gen. Mugisha said.
The presidential candidate after his radio talk show went to Yumbe district where he held a rally. He laid his plans to the people. Unlike other presidential candidates in the race, Mugisha Muntu looks like he doesn’t want anything like chaos and his name in the same sentence.
This would be so different if it was another candidate. The end result would be tear gas and riots from the both the supporters and the candidate.
However, The former army commander may be having a point likening police to robots. After most of the incidents that have happened, we call to attest to the fact that the police just acts without any kind of peaceful consultancy. We can’t however say it’s their fault only when it comes to these violent incidents.
Some times crowds get so rowdy plus their candidates. This leaves the police with no choice but to react with tear gas and shots in the air.
