The youth collapsed during their physical fitness test, which was a 4 kilometre simple run. Some of those that got admitted include Okello Sam from Kalaki, Ageto Celina from Serere, Ejiku Joseph from Kaberamaido and many more.
The medical team from UPDF did a wonderful job picking up the youth who had collapsed in the process and taking them to the referral hospital.
The team of health workers led by Mr Ekochu helped to apply first aid and give the youth glucose to energize them. Some of them were heard shouting loudly telling the health workers to look after their children in case they passed away.
One of the participants identified as Okiror Samuel said while on his hospital bed that he was under too much pressure to be able to complete the four kilometer-run. They told us that only the first fifty people will be considered from the 4 groups,’he said.
According to the 3rd division spokesperson Capt Arinaitwe Albert, all those who collapsed during the race were not fit and will therefore not be considered for this initiative.
