About 21 police officers are under probe after the IGG accused them for using forged papers to join police force where they have been promoted to senior ranks.

The accused officers have been assigned to ranks of Superintendent of Police, Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Assistant Superintendent of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police.
On 15th February, the permanent Secretary of Internal Affairs ministry, Dr Mutambi Benon informed the IGP of police, Mr Okoth Ochola Martins to initiate criminal investigations against these twenty-one officers.
Dr Benon also forwarded all officer’s names to IGP Okoth, who allegedly forged entry papers and later promoted to higher ranks, according to Inspector General of Government.
He however told Mr Okoth that the illegitimate promotions and recruitment of the so-called officers were shared to the authority of police during it’s meeting which took place on 25th January 2019.
