Ugandan political giants including president Museveni, Kizza Besigye, Gen Mugisha Muntu and Robert Kyagulanyi have started preparing for 2021 presidential race.

Dr Kizza Besigye, 62, who has been contesting in all the last presidential elections is also in position to challenge president Kaguta Museveni for the fifth time. Kizza Besigye already announced what he named ‘’People’s Cabinet’’ whereby he is on top as the president and the current leader of FDC, Mr Amuriat Oboi Patrick as the presidential Council of State. He will therefore have State ministers and 37 cabinet.
President Museveni, 74 who will be pursuing his 6th term will be making 40 years in power by the end of 2026. All the 17 members of the ruling party, NRM’s Central Executive Committee ( CEC ) already requested him to stand in 2021 and they are much-anticipated.
The third challenger is Kyadondo East Member of parliament, Hon Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, 37, who joined Uganda’s politics and gained favour especially from the youth surprisingly easily.
On 2nd February 2019, Hon Robert Kyagulanyi announced on CNN that this time around he’s seriously going to run for presidency in 2021, according to daily monitor.
The last challenger is the former army commander, General Mugisha Muntu, 60 who left FDC bitterly and made an announcement of new formation. Other party members including Kizza Besigye himself were shocked of Muntu’s leaving.
