Betty Amongi: I Hope Those Men Are Awaiting Afghan Women Are Not Stingy

Minister Betty Amongi came out through her Twitter handle to joke about the Ugandan men who are already joyously expecting Afghan refugee women.

The Minister said that she hopes all those Ugandan men sharing the photos of these women are financially stable.

Betty Amongi added that it’s a surprise that these men are now not against the government but offering total support.

She then went ahead to tag journalist Andrew Mwenda and DP president Nobert Mao.

“I have seen our Ugandan men praying for safe landing of Afghanistan refugees, and sharing various photos of ladies. They are promising total support and cooperation with government this time on this project! Hope it’s not Stingy men Association.
@AndrewMwenda
@norbertmao”. Minister posted on her Twitter page.

Afghan refugees numbering 2,000 were okayed by the government to come and take camp in the country. This followed the collapse of the Afghanistan government to the Taliban militants.

A lot of people fled the country and many are still fleeing to countries across the world.

Uganda is one of the countries with a high influx of refugees, a thing that is slowly straining its resources. The move has been met with mixed reactions from the public and some leaders.

However, memes are already making rounds on social media especially Twitter. Some Ugandan men on Twitter have gone ahead to warn their women to be careful because anytime, an Afghan woman is replacing them.
