Taking to his Twitter page, musician Ykee Benda gave his opinion by equating Bobi Wine to Kenya’s Raila Odinga.
This is after the former NBS TV journalist Daniel Lutaaya said that a country must always come first. Lutaaya said that a great leader can never lead a country into anarchy. And if it means just making a handshake with their political opponents, they will always do it.
He then cited Kenya’s Raila Odinga who decided to make peace with President Uhuru Kenyata. This was at the height of looming electoral violence in Kenya in 2017. To Lutaaya, it’s what DP president Mao did with President Museveni.
“The country must come first. If the stability of the country means a handshake, a true leader will give that handshake. A great leader would never lead the country into anarchy, just so he can become a leader. That’s what RAO did in Kenya and that’s what MAO did in Uganda,” said Lutaaya.
However, this was trashed by musician Ykee Benda. The Mpaka Records boss said that Mao was not the biggest opposition figure in Uganda. He, therefore, poses no threat to the ruling government.
The Superman singer also added that it is debatable whether Mao was ever truly an opposition. Therefore it’s only NUP’s Bobi Wine that can carry out such a move as Raila Odinga’s.
“Bobi is the Raila of Uganda… Only after that handshake will this statement hold water … Mao is not the leading opposer if he’s even opposition to say the least,” replied Ykee Benda to Daniel Lutaaya’s tweet.
Meanwhile, campaigns have already heated up in Kenya’s general election. The battle is mainly between William Ruto and Raila Odinga. The last campaign rally will take place on August 6th.
The general elections will be held on the 9th of August. According to the poll observers, Odinga’s ratings are up but Ruto will be a man to beat. The country is famed for electoral violence.
