He made the comments in regard to the circumstances that surrounded the untimely death of Burundian President, Pierre Nkurunziza.
Nkurunziza last year succumbed to covid 19, a thing that threw the country into panic.
Burundi was however able to swiftly go through this period as Gen. Ndayishimiye became the president. This all came with the help of the Ugandan president, Museveni. Museveni has carved a name for himself as a power broker in the East African bloc. The president has influenced a number of decisions due to his vast experience and knowledge in leadership, especially in East Africa.
“We came here to look for your blessing as our elder. We passed through a bad moment when H.E Nkurunziza died. He would be my adviser but unfortunately, he passed away. Now it’s you to advise us,” Gen Evaristo Ndayishimiye said.
The Burundian president was also expected to sign an agreement that will see Uganda build a road that connects the two countries. This will pass through Tanzania and has majorly come up due to the differences between Uganda and Rwanda. This has greatly stifled Uganda’s economic ventures in the south Western neighbors.
