Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) Expo Starts

Over 3000 local exhibitors are expected to participate at the first ever Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) expo, that will officially be opened by the president today at Kololo Airstrip.

Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (MTIC) Amelia Kyambadde says the three-day exhibition taking place from March 7-9, 2019 aims at promoting goods and services produced within Uganda.

She explained that  participants at the expo will include government ministries, departments and agencies, private sector institutions like manufacturers, schools hospitals universities, banks, and individual consumers.

Kyambadde however says buy Uganda build Uganda Policy under which the expo is organized, is the only way that can ensure that Ugandans produce and develop their own country like it has happened in the western world as well as neighbouring countries like Kenya.

She further explained that the expo also aims at promoting local content, encouraging and building patriotism in the general public and enhancing networking and coordination around the BUBU policy.

Kyambadde however cautions local manufacturers to produce good quality products and formalize their businesses if they are to benefit from BUBU Policy.
