Back in 2019, children at a kindergarten in Jiaozuo city were rushed to the hospital after eating their morning porridge.
Reports however proved the presence of sodium nitrate in the breakfast of her colleague’s students. The teacher known as Ms. Wang poisoned her colleague’s students as a revenge stunt after the two had a fallout.
The incident left the whole of China shocked and made headlines around the whole world. It described Ms. Wang as ‘’ despicable and vicious.’’
At the time, 23 children were reported to vomit and faint right after taking their breakfast. Police immediately opened an investigation after allegations of a teacher poisoning students.
On Monday, a local court in Jiaozuo sentenced Ms. Wang to death. A statement from the court said she put sodium nitrate into the porridge of the young students of another teacher. It said the stunt was a revenge move after the two teachers had argued over student management issues.
Sodium nitrate is very toxic if used in high concentrations but it’s also used as a food additive for curing meat.
The court reported that Ms. Wang had attempted to poison someone before, therefore, it wasn’t her first time to poison someone. She poisoned her husband before the students but he only suffered minor injuries.
Fatality;
One of the students died in January 2020 after spending 10 months bedridden in the hospital.
The court described Ms. Wang as despicable and vicious and additionally concluded that her actions were pure evil and deserved sever punishment. Her execution will therefore be carried out by lethal injection or by a firing squad.
