There has always been a competition between these two TV stations. And this can be seen from how their programs are stationed and the entire concepts almost look the same.
Next Media Services recently launched an entire channel dubbed NBS Sports and this will focus entirely on sports uninterrupted. And guess who runs it as the main face, Andrew Kabuura who was the former NTV Pressbox presenter.
He however didn’t do the exodus alone from Serena Hotel to Naguru, he went with Joel Khamadi who was his fellow panelist at the Pressbox.
Kabuura also went with the program’s name to NBS, forcing NTV to adopt a new name, Sports Knights. NTV brought veteran sports personality and USPA president, Patrick Kanyomozi in to fill Kabuura’s void.
Yesterday Monday 13th June 2022 was the first time the two programs aired at almost the same time. And it’s clear to say that it was indeed a real battle.
The Pressbox on NBS Sports started to air at 9:40pm, a thing that forced NTV to reschedule the Sports Knights from 10pm to 9:50pm.
Presenters from these TV stations could be seen through their different social media channels hyping their respective workhouses. The NTV crew maintained that class is permanent as if to insinuate that the other side copied them but can’t actually match them.
“Class is permanent… Always endeavour to feed your mind,’ Dhakabar Kigongo a presenter on NTV Sports Knights tweeted.
“Welcome to the #NTVSportKnights class neighbors. This is how a sports show is done and this is what analysis sounds like. Class is done, let’s go and spread the word,” Komugisha Olivia an NTV staff tweeted.
“Copied but never equalled…. @sport_knights tonight at 9:50pm,” NTV’s Faridah Nakazibwe also tweeted.
You can guess the hype that was also on for the NBS Sports Pressbox on its inaugural day. These also promised the best sports show ever seen and its fair to say that they delivered according to the reviews.
The two programs spent the entire night as the most trending topics on the Ugandan Twitter search engine. And they still are doing so.
There is nothing like a healthy rivalry and this is likely to make the two shows push each other to the best. Let’s just wait and switch our eyes to the screen, each program will eventually grab its faithfuls.
