Dialogue Has Cost Us A Lot As A Country – Samson Kasumba Applauds Mao’s Defection To NRM

NBS journalist, Samson Kasumba, has come out to reveal that dialogue has cost Uganda as a country so much. This was in relation to DP president Nobert Mao defecting to the NRM.

Mao has since then faced heavy criticism from different people and opposition politicians. These have branded him a snake and snitch.

In his defense, Mao said that he did this for the good of the country especially in the transition. He also said that he’s not the first opposition leader and more so DP to collaborate with the ruling government.

And according to Kasumba, dialogue has cost the country what would be a peaceful era turning into a violent one. He cited how some people refused to dialogue with Ben Kiwanuka.

Kasumba further cited how talks with the likes of Idi Amin, Milton Obote and Tito Lutwa all failed. This was due to the pride and unwillingness of the opposing forces. And factually, failure of these talks led to breakdown of the country.

This is after chaos and violence erupted leading to huge loss of lives and destruction of property.

“Some people refused to talk to Ben Kiwanuka. Then some refused to talk to Amin. Some refused to talk to Obote, and others were of the view talking to Lutwa was a waste of time. When shall we learn that refusing to talk and engage has been the our biggest and most expensive weakness?”

Meanwhile, Mao’s vetting was successful yesterday. He will soon assume his office officially as the new minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
