In a bid to build world class entrepreneurs and address unemployment, Enterprise Uganda is set to roll out Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) management skills training clinics for the next 3 years.
According to the agency Director Ocici the objective is make them become the main vehicle for expanding production, providing sustainable jobs and enhancing economic growth.
He said the vision of Enterprise Uganda is to be a centre of excellence for the creation and nurturing of globally competitive private sector in Uganda.
“The objective of SME skills training programme is to enhance the operational efficiency and competitiveness of SMEs in Uganda and to assist companies to grow and diversify into new products,” he said.
The programme also aims to build capacity, develop subcontracting linkages between SMEs and large local private companies as well as government procurement agencies.
Ocici said they target existing companies in the manufacturing, agribusiness and service sectors seeking to grow their businesses namely women, youth and farmers group in rural areas.
Ocici however said companies and individuals that will under go training will benefit from specific grants, start up capital with good bankable project proposals.
