Faridah Nakazibwe Details Jackie Chandiru’s Struggles With Depression

TV personality Faridah Nakazibwe has come out to detail the struggles of faded singer Jackie Chandiru after interviewing her on the Mwasuze Mutya program.

She narrated how Jackie who once flew private reached a point of eating one boiled egg. This was induced by financial difficulties on the part of the former Blu3 singer.

Apparently, Jackie also suffered domestic violence. This forced her into using a deadly addictive drug, pethidine to do away with the pain. She then lost her marriage and this happened as social media was busy cyberbullying her.

“Jackie came down from flying private to eating one boiled egg a day, out of scarcity. Before that, she had silently suffered domestic violence, which prompted her to abuse pethidine to brush off the pain. All this while, we were cyberbullying her. She lost her marriage.”

These unfortunate circumstances made her to go off the music radar. She also withdrew from friends and family to deal with her demons personally.

The Gold digger fell into depression and as she tried to recover she relapsed because of social media. It was then that she fled to Kenya where she managed to take a few steps towards recovery.

She returned to Uganda but still things have never been the same again.

“Vanished from the music scene, withdrew from family and friends, and slid into depression. She was lost for 6 good years. She tried to stand up and walk again, but we bashed her back into depression. Then she ran to Kenya, from where she got the courage to move again. Returned home, but things have never been the same again. She is trying to overcome and guess what? Some people will still bully her.”

Faridah wondered why cyber harassment has been normalized as it almost cost Chandiru her life. The NTV Luganda news anchor called out socal media users who she said have a ‘cyber bullying association.’

These live off tormenting others despite not knowing what they are forcing their victims into. She added that not every one is strong enough to overcome the dangers of depression arising out of cyber bullying.

Further, she said that besides many won’t come out because of fear of being ridiculed again. And for this, more deaths shall be recorded as a result of depression caused by cyberbullying.
