Apparently, there are two factions within the Najjanankumbi-based party. One of these is led by the party president, Patrick Amuriat Oboi and the secretary General, Nandala Mafabi.
The other group has the likes of MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the lord mayor Erias Lukwago and former party president, Dr Col Kiiza Besigye.
Yesterday, Hon Ssemujju Nganda was replaced Hon Yusuf Nsibambi by the FDC in Parliament as the Opposition chief whip. The party seems bent on more stringent measures aimed at punishing those who dared to stand up against it.
A letter signed by the party president Amuriat called for a disciplinary meeting to be held. It is also here that the ‘culprits’ will face their fate.
Furthermore Amuriat said that he’s going to be making appointments in the meantime to replace those who defied the party.
“In response to their recent behavior towards the party, the FDC President has formally submitted the names of the following National Executive Committee members to the party’s disciplinary committee for review.”
The accused meanwhile are;
1:- Hon. Elias Lukwago-Ag. Deputy President
2. Hon. Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda- Secretary for Information & Publicity
3. Hon. Kennedy Okello-Ag. Deputy Secretary for Presidency
4. Dr. George Okello Ekwaro-Ag. Deputy Secretary for Mobilization Affairs.
5. Mr. Samuel Makhoka W’Mugenyi-Ag. Deputy for International & Regional
7. Hon. Mubarak Munyagwa-Ag. Secretary for Mobilization
6. Mr. Amon Ayesigomwe Rubarema-Secretary for Works & Transport.
The chaos surrounding the once strong Ugandan political party seem to have just started. Ssemujju Nganda has not yet spoken officially in regards to his dethronement.
