The proprietor of Uganda’s leading publishing firm Dr. James Tumusiime of Fountain Publishers has challenged government and stakeholders in publishing industry to rise and fight against piracy.
Speaking at Fountain Publishers 30 years anniversary on Wednesday, Tumusiime said the local publishing industry is dogged with saboteurs duplicating original works of established publishers hence hindering them from getting money from their works.
“as we celebrate Fountain publishers 30 years milestone achievements, this has not been easy road to success because there is prevailing privacy hurting the publishing industry negatively,” Tumusiime said.
He said the local book industry has failed to grow unscrupulous people are busy copying and duplicating works of original writers and authors hence frustrating their efforts to keep writing.

Fountain publishers started in 1988 to revive book industry has remained in business because the company proprietors have stuck on the same vision and mission and quality work.
“we publish high quality relevant and affordable books given the high expectations of our promoters, we decided to distinguish ourselves from the type of books that were on the market at the time by making our books relevant to the country’s social cultural environment using appropriate language levels and pricing them affordability,”
“we publish valued books, read books, write books and buy books. Our books meet the needs of the ordinary learners in all respects including illustrations, presentation, sensitivity to national norms and made in a way that would ensure their durability and value for money, ”Tumusiime added.
What has kept us in business Our books also meet ordinary learners in all respects of the industry.
