Frank Lampard Fired As Chelsea Manager With Players Told NOT To Come In For Morning Training

Chelsea FC has announced that by the end of today, Frank Lampard will not be the manager of the club anymore. This comes less than 24 hours after their FA Cup win over Luton. The report says the players were told not to report to the training ground until Monday afternoon.

This move comes as the club takes decisive action following a poor run of results in the Premier League. Reports from Germany indicate that Thomas Tuchel is poised to replace Lampard.

Chelsea beat Championship side Luton 3-1 in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday. The win however doesn’t seem to spare Lampard from cut. Chelsea currently rests at a lowly ninth position in the premier league table.

A dreadful run of league form has seen the Blues lose five of their last eight Premier League matches, leaving them well out of the title visibility.

It came after Lampard said the win over Luton on Sunday would ‘bring a nice air of positivity’ to the club.

He said: ‘People will look very close at the moment but I need to see a bigger picture. This was an important result because it brings a nice air of positivity to the club. We want to win more points in league. That’s where we are at.

‘It’s nice for us in the short term, the scrutiny on a club like this is normal. When you’re off it slightly, the only focus should be on changing the form. We just go again.’

Paris Saint-Germain sacked Tuchel as manager in December 2020. He is the blues favorite to succeed Lampard at Stamford Bridge. Max Allegri also features highly among the favorites.

Lampard has only spent 18 months as Chelsea manager and steered the club to a fourth placed finish last season and also made it to the finals of the FA Cup.

But despite massive investment of £222 million in new players, they have been unable to mount a challenge at the top of the table.

Frank Lampard has had an iconic status back in the day and this means his sacking will most probably split opinion among Chelsea fans, according to Daily Mail.
