Gulu University Don and Chairman in charge of Research academic and science professionals of Uganda National Academy of Sciences has been appointed to serve as a sitting lecturer at world acclaimed Harvard University for one year.
His service takes effect this month on 26th August. Prof David Lagoro Kitara in an exclusive in face with media was very happy for the offer saying its out of luck and hard work despite coming from humble background.
“Am happy to have been appointed to serve as a professor at Harvard University after serious vetting, interviews and strict selection of top 10 people in the world for this position so I count my self lucky,”Lagoro said.
“I will be lecturing on tropical diseases management, research and conduct consultancies during the period and after one year I will become Harvard University fellow,”he added.
Lagoro says that while there he will market Uganda national academy of sciences to the world to attract funding.
Lagoro has served as chair of country coordinating mechanism for global fund in Uganda where he managed to secure $510 million for the country to scale up Malaria, Tuberculoses and HIV/Aids.
Lagoro has served as a chairman of Uganda medical association Acholi branch, director Gulu university Oklahoma global health education programme .
