During the time Masinga was released, Chief Magistrate Mr Andayi Francis made a funny statement by saying that the suspect was yearning to eat at such an expensive restaurant before he dies, even if he could not afford the price of a meal there.
“Ambatsa, yaani uliamua lazima ukule Java kabla ufe,” the Chief magistrate assumed as the courtroom blown up into laughter.
The court learnt that on Monday 16th December 2019, the hawker moved in Java Restaurant on Kimathi Street and confidently made an order for Chips, Chicken and a glass of juice, but later was unable to clear a bill of Kshs1,310 ( Ushs 45,850 ).
During his appearance in court on Tuesday, Masinga pleaded guilty by ordering for a meal worth the above stipulated amount which he ate, but failed to pay.
The accused who regretted his actions and apologized before court, was finally set free, but was warned against repeating the same crime.
