I Expected Bobi Wine To Support A Young Man Like Me – NRM’s Andrew Ojok Oulanyah

NRM’s flag bearer in the pending Omoro by-election Andrew Ojok Oulanyah has revealed that he expected NUP principal Bobi Wine to support him.

This is because the former Kyadondo East legislator has for long been projecting the current leadership to be one for the youths.

Bobi Wine however supported someone who is old enough to be Andrew’s grandfather. Andrew is however confident that he was born for this.

Therefore he believes that he’s the best candidate for the role of filling his late father, Hon Jacob Oulanyah’s seat.

“I expected Bobi Wine to support a young person like me, but he chose to go for my grandfather. I know myself, and God knows me I am capable. This is a calling for me. How people perceive me is their opinion,” he said while appearing on a debate organized by NBS TV among the candidates for the Omoro By-election.

Andrew also appreciated NUP’s Toolit for his services rendered to Omoro way back in the late 2000s. That is when he was still an MP of Omoro.

For those saying he’s young, he told them that age is just a number and cited Museveni who started his career at a tender age.

Meanwhile, NUP’s Simon Toolit who was on the same show thanked the government for this campaign. This is because he hasn’t seen Bobi Wine being teargassed this time round.

“I want to congratulate the government because it has never happened that my President (Hon. Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu) is allowed to traverse Omoro without any teargas,” Toolit said.

Toolit added that Omoro needs a mature person who can guide the population. This is because in case of a problem, they can’t approach the young man in Andrew. This was a surprise to the viewers and social media users since Toolit subscribes to a party with a much younger president.

All of the candidates on the debate downplayed Andrew’s age as a factor in why they shouldn’t vote him. Plus these were arguing that Omoro is not a hereditary place that Andrew should fill his father’s shoes.

He however argued that the fact that they are going to an election shows democracy. Otherwise, if it was hereditary, he would already be an MP.

The candidates are 6 in number namely, Odong Justine Obiya – FDC, Terence Odongo – Independent Candidate, Andrew Ojok Oulanyah – NRM, Toolit Simon – NUP, Onen Jimmy – Independent, Kizza Oscar – ANT.

Meanwhile, police has beefed up security in the area with President Museveni’s pending arrival today. He will campaign for Andrew Ojok Oulanyah. The election is slated for tomorrow 26th May 2022.
