Investigations Into The Attempted Murder Of Gen. Katumba Has Starts With CCTV Footage

Police has released CCTV camera footage as investigations on the attempted murder of Gen Katumba starts. This footage was collected from nearby buildings and nearby places which show the suspected assassins. These suspects according to the footage, were traveling using two motorcycles.

A statement released by Maj Gen Paul Lokech, the deputy Inspector General of Police, described the different places where the suspects were seen.

“The assailants who were four in number were riding on two motorcycles with concealed number plates, pulled up next to Gen Katumba Wamala’s car and shot several bullets that instantly killed Nantongo Brenda and Haruna Kayondo.”

“The assailants trailed the motor vehicle as it left the home of Gen Katumba Wamala at Bulabira – Najjera. Until when they reached at a remote area located 4kms away along the Kisota –Kulambiro road,” the statement read.

Maj. Gen. Paul Loketch, however, says this was an organized crime with a targeted person who survived fortunately.

“We consider such attacks as a form of organized crime, with a potential of extremism, aimed at undermining the prevailing stability. We are, however, confident that we shall identify the suspects and take very resolute enforcement action against them in accordance with the law.”

There have been so many people who have died in such a way. Unfortunately, police has never released any substantial report. For instance, Muhammad Kirumira, AIGP Felix Kaweesi, Ibrahim Abiriga and many others. Police released footage of assailants but even so, they have nothing tangible in regards to the cases.
