Known for its unique practical courses and bridging Information, Communication a and Technology gaps in Africa, International University of East Africa (IUEA) is set to unveil its undergraduate virtual education programmes this August.
The new programme will help youngsters looking for jobs to get them immediately once they enroll for the courses.
Dr. Emeka Akaezuwa, the IUEA Vice Chancellor says the new virtual education is an innovation by the university geared at impacting youth innovations.
“our kind of virtual education not only helps students studying on long distance but enable graduate to get on spot job right from the moment they are admitted to
work with our partners in the United states of America, ”Dr.Emeka explained.
Emeka however challenged local universities and government to invest into building ICT infrastructures for youth to access internet at affordable cost to spur youth innovations to reduce youth unemployment on the continent.
“the traditional way of teaching is old fashioned. Universities must rely on ICT to deliver cost effective and innovative courses that will have paradigm shift in society like addressing youth unemployment,” he said.
To help bridge communication gaps,IUEA has introduced international languages at part of course unit such as French,Germany,Swahili and Chinese for its students pursuing different degree programmes.
IUEA is the only University that teaches robotics and other advanced ICT related courses that impact its graduates to be innovators hence helped in development of several society applications.
IUEA joins Virtual University in Uganda
It is offering this kind of education in Uganda. Virtual University of Uganda (VUU) is a private university is focusing only post graduates students offering them online technological revolution in university education
Currently, Virtual University of Uganda is offering programmes in the fields of Public Health, International Development, ICT for Development, Business Administration, and Oil & Gas Management. Other programmes are under development.
