International University Of East Africa ( IUEA ) To Unveil Virtual Learning

In an effort aimed at extending practical education to mass public without travelling distances, International University of East Africa (IUEA) a private university that tops in modern technology and science teaching in the region is set to unveil virtual education next academic year that starts in January.

IUEA Vice Chancellor Dr. Emeka Akaezuwa speaking ahead of the 5^thgraduation slated for November 29^th in Kansanga said virtual education will afford opportunity for students at distant places to study without traveling to Uganda.

“We intend to roll out virtual education to fit with digital age. This will afford more people on the continent the ability to study online without travelling to Uganda,”he said.

Dr. Emeka however said they intend to collaborate with the National Curriculum Development Centre and the National Council for Higher Education to review university programmes so as to have direct relevance to society.

“We totally believe that what universities are teaching are old-fashioned and we are willing to show them the way to modern teaching programmes,”Emeka said.

The International University of East Africa (IUEA) is a private University licensed by National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).

IUEA’s main campus is located in Kansanga, Kampala, Uganda, and draws students from East Africa, and from the rest of the world. IUEA celebrates a multi-cultural atmosphere with students from many countries.

But Hassan Alwi University Director says IUEA is a thriving international community of scholars and students because they are engaged in pursuit of advanced knowledge, practical skills and human values.

“At IUEA we are dedicated to producing excellent graduates who are masters of their chosen fields of study, highly employable, and capable of creating new products and building new companies as entrepreneurs,” he said.

” IUEA offers the International Foundation Program (IFP), CISCO, special language classes and short course certificates that prepare students for both employment and entry into academic qualifications,”he added.

Key achievements

In recent seven years anniversary the university Director Hassan Alwi noted introduction of modern curriculum that focuses on modern learning and robotics teaching has enabled them cement relevance among innovators in the country

IUEA is the only university that has created a sustainable innovation lab (Silab) in Africa. Silab uses a different approach, an approach that places significant emphasis on local know-how and local materials – a different approach from the dependency models used in other innovation labs across the continent.

IUEA currently tops in cyber security and block chain technology and mobile money systems development.

We have been able to establish and use technology to spur agriculture and farming innovation that has tackled issues related climate change adaptation.
