John Deere an American Corporation that manufactures agricultural, construction and forestry machinery has announced grant of $5million over the five years to support One Acre Foundation Fund.
This was reveled at the 11th edition of Information Communication and Technology Conference taking place at Munyonyo Hotel.
One Acre Fund offers farmers hybrid maize seed and fertilizer as well as add-on products such as solar lights and harvest drying sheets.
John Ndeer also confirmed its commitment to further support agriculture on the African continent.
Jason Brantley John Deere director of sales and marketing for the region said,”we recognize the critical importance if ICT in supporting food security in Africa. Deere has significant investment in our technology platforms and we want to showcase our vision for enabling small holder farmers and improving the food nutrition value china on the continent of Africa, ”he said.
John Deere sales branded tractors to owner farmers through internet of things enabled digital solutions that bridges the gap between manual and mechanized farming. The services enables farmers to request affordable tractor services while providing enhanced security to tractor owners through remote asset tracking and virtual monitoring.
