Joint Security Task Force Denies MP Zaake Torture Allegations

The Joint Security Task force has finally denied a statement that was released by the MP of Mityana Municipality Hon. Francis Zaake, on his arrest and torture related to severe beatings.

Zaake said he was badly beaten and detained in the police custody with 20 other people including a female suspect. The Member of Parliament further claimed that he was taken to SID Kireka, where he was asked about his political affiliation to Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine.

Fred Enanga the Police spokesperson says the task force strongly dismisses these claims as untrue and misleading. “And the reason we are responding is to oppose the enlightened propaganda aimed at negatively depicting security forces as violent and further destroy the image of Uganda as a country” Enanga said.

It’s true Hon Zaake Francis was apprehended for defying president’s directives on food distribution focused on controlling the spread of coronavirus. As a result, he was charged of disobedience of lawful orders and negligent acts expected to spread the deadly disease,’he added.

Besides that, Hon Zaake is still under intensive care and many people especially People Power supporters are mad about how the security operatives mistreated him.

Uganda Police released a full statement on the Joint security Task force denying claims of torture by Hon. MP.
