The armless friendly looking robot will be tested in Schiphol airport in Netherlands by the end of November, 2015.
The main reason as to why KLM decided to invest in this project it’s because Schiphol airport is one of the most complicated airports to steer up around, this robot will also help you not to get lost at the airport, it was built by a team that used research from different European Universities.
KLM guys are innovative!
This robot is provided with a map of the airport to enable it to survey its surroundings by taking measurements of distances to diverse pre-loaded obstructions like stairs and walls using laser beams.
Spencer was programmed with the knowledge to understand human behavior and it will move people around in its way, it will count the number of people in the group it’s helping to check and steers up at intervals making sure everyone is still with it.
The first trial will be held on 30th-Nov -2015 and it will last for one week, there after the research team will hold the data collected and use it to streamline spencer before it begins to work officially by next year in March.
