In a letter dated 5th June 2019, Mr Pius said Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) for a file of workers in each recruitment company and bank statements.

Therefore, this letter is purposely to request you to submit the requested information through Uganda Association of External Recruitment Agencies (UAERA) BY 10th June 2019.

The contenders in the recruitment industry however questioned the move.

The denigrators have questioned government’s reasons in asking for bank statements.

Several of them who spoke to Newslex Point said labour export was maintained through well established laws such as recruitment of Ugandan migrant workers abroad Regulations Statutory Instrument number 62 of 2005 which doesn’t refer anywhere that the recruitment companies should submit their bank statements.

They added that the move would be equivalent to violation of privacy by government.
