Meet Mathematics Graduate Who Now Fetches Water To Earn A Living

A 25 year old Osore Makachia, a mathematics graduate from Kenyatta University in Nairobi Kenya currently earns a living by pushing a two hind wheeled cart Kenyans normally call ‘Mkokoteni’ where he loads Jerricans of water and delivers to his customers in Soweto slum areas.

Mr Osore who in 2018 graduated with Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, tried his level best applying for jobs in different companies, but unfortunately he was unable to secure any.

The mathematics graduate not only pushes Mkokoteni, but also does others blue collar jobs in the area to subsidize part of his living expenses.

I sent out many applications to several organizations but in vain, you know in Kenya right now it’s difficult to just enter the job market and succeed. You also need to have connections in order to get a job,’he said.

Mr Samuel, who’s pursuing a PhD in Business Administration is one of the most educated young Kenyans who lack professional jobs, he is finding alternative work in taxi hailing apps.
