That doesnot mean that every one is poor in Africa, here comes a 40 year old Tanzanian business man, entrepreneur, philanthropist and a former member of parliament by the names of Mohammed Gulam Dawji commonly known as “MO“.

He’s also the 31st richest man on the African continent with an estimated networth of $1.1 billion according to forbes.
He was born on 8th –May 1975 in Ipembe, Singida Tanzania, he attended Arusha primary school and later taken to Tanganyika international school where he compeleted his secondary school education and finally attended Georgetown University with the Bachelors degree in International Business and finance.
After his University graduation, he went back home to manage his father’s commodity trading business known as Mohammed Enterprise Tanzania Limited ( MET Ltd ).
Dawiji used all the business skills he had learnt in school and made his family business very successful, thus making abnormal profits, he begun acquiring different businesses that were privatized by the government and finally expanded his business as MeTL Group of Companies which deals in agriculture, oil, manufacturing, real estate and textiles, it also operates in East, Central and Southern Africa.

He is a muslim by religion and has three children, he is reportedly a good man who likes to help poor children in Tanzania by offering scholarships, Mo is loved by the majority of Tanzanians because of the help he gives to the poor, he served as a member of parliament for Singida area in Tanzania for two terms until he retired from politics last year, but people kept pleading to him so that he can continue to represent them.

Mo supports young entrepreneurs through his foundation known as Mo Dawji Foundation, especially those who are running highly potential start ups but lack further support in form of growth capital, networks and mentorship which could accelerate the growth of their start-ups.
