MP Betty Nambooze Criticizes Manner In Which Kenyan President William Ruto Was Welcomed To Uganda

Bedridden Mukono Municipality MP, Hon Betty Nambooze, has come out to criticize the manner in which the Kenyan President H.E William Ruto was welcomed to Uganda.

Ruto was one of the Presidents invited by President Museveni for the 60th Independence anniversary of Uganda.

He jetted into the country together with his delegation on the 8th of October and these were welcomed by State Minister for International Affairs, Henry Okello Oryem.

Nambooze said that Uganda’s diplomatic protocol is very lacking. Out of the 45 Cabinet Ministers one would have been chosen to welcome Ruto.

If they had all been busy either, Vice President Jessica Alupo, PM Nabbanja or ex speaker of Parliament Hon Rebecca Kadaga could have done this task.

“A President of a Country on invitation is received at the Airport by the Junior (State Minister) of Foreign Affairs… Uganda and her Diplomatic protocol lapses!! Uganda has over 45 cabinet Ministers… If the bosses were busy, atleast H.E Alupo, PM Nabbanja, Former Speaker and now Deputy PM and Minister for East Africa Rebecca Kadaga! And in the hardest situation, a Full Cabinet Minister of either Foreign Affairs or Presidency.”

She further added that Kenyans should take this as disrespectful towards their President and themselves.

They also shouldn’t take Muhoozi’s recent tweets as a mere joke of capturing Nairobi.

“Hope the Kenyans will understand how important the tweet was… Atleast He would have been given a welcoming function and of higher ranking so that the big boy tweets ie; “My brother H.E Ruto has come to thank my Dad and my Army for the help given to him to defeat Raila.”

This tweet has however garnered Nambooze criticism as she’s trying to fuel hatred where there isn’t any.
