This is after Museveni reached an agreement with DP and its president Nobert Mao to start a working relationship. The agreement also saw Mao assume the office of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
However, according to Kivumbi, this was DP’s final death. He scarcely thinks that the party will resurrect after this. And according to Muwanga, Museveni is aiming at radicalizing his party by swallowing all the weaker political parties around him.
The Buganda Parliamentary caucus chairman further said that Museveni is building a monarchy. And in such a bid, he’s decided to front people like Mao. These are the firewood that will front his ideas.
“President Museveni is trying to reconstruct a UPC based on hatred. DP has been put in the coffin by that agreement.
I once told Ugandans we are going into life presidency. The whole project is about building a monarchy, and they are now looking for firewood. In this project, they look for people like Mao to front the dictator’s plans,” said Muwanga Kivumbi.
Furthermore, Hon Muwanga said that there are a lot of injustices going on in northern Uganda. This includes the high cases of land grabbing. The likes of Nobert Mao are the beneficiaries, the reason they side with Museveni’s ideas.
Kivumbi however said that Mao’s move didn’t surprise him. This is because he saw earlier that he (Mao) and some DP members had been bought off long time.
It probably is the reason why a section of him and other DP members decided to defect to Bobi Wine’s NUP. Kivumbi is however glad that those who disagreed with him that Mao was compromised by the NRM have witnessed it.
The MP however reserves some hope that DP will somehow find a way to come out of this coffin. And besides no cause comes to fruition without betrayal along the way.
