Reopening Of Classes Of Candidates Postponed For A Month –Museveni

President Museveni has today addressed the nation once again and guided Ugandans on the way forward in combating Covid-19 across the country.

“On account of our collective efforts, it is now 75 days since the lock-down started on the 17th of March. The number of Ugandans that have been tested posted is 457,” President Museveni says

“We cannot therefore lose earnings from the export of coffee, because trucks carry coffee, tea, processed milk, cement and other types of food. The trucks also bring in raw materials. Trucks for cargo are a necessity. There is also international law. The hinterland countries which are landlocked have a right to pass their goods through here. Therefore what countries can do is to regulate.

“The truck drivers will be tested and monitored. There is therefore no need for panic because we are testing and tracking those they have come into contact with.” Museveni

President Museveni: There are 3 ways on how we deal with the disease: First vaccination; second, using drugs which attack the virus; and third, avoiding the disease by wearing masks, washing hands and using sanitisers and social distancing.

President Museveni: A total of 15 truck drivers (5 Tanzanians, 2 Kenyans and 8 Ugandans), have been cured because we tested them, discovered they had COVID-19, confined and treated them. So there is no need for panic, what we are doing is in order

“The lockdown has helped us to know where the enemy is coming from, however, it should not continue indefinitely because it affects the community,” he says.

“We shall now allow the public transport such as the buses and taxis to move, provided they carry only one half of their normal capacity plus the conductor and the driver. All these should wear masks all the time. We do not want to see brokers in these parks for now.”

“We have decided to postpone the re-opening of schools for candidate learners for another one month as we prepare more and study the situation. We have decided we should not bite too much at a time.”he added.
