Musicians Should Stop Being Selfish And Stand Up For The People – Nubian Li

Firebase Crew vice president Ali Bukenya aka Nubian Li has come out to call upon musicians to stop being selfish. Nubian Li implored artistes to instead fight for the people than their selfish interests.

The singer further says that musicians have a voice bigger than that of politicians. He then said that this is the reason his camp decided to join politics.

Nubian says that they intend to use their music as edutainment in order to help people emancipate themselves from President Museveni’s rule.

“I urge musicians to rise up and start speaking for the oppressed instead of themselves. They should know that they have a very big voice. Bigger than even the politicians who use them. Take for example, most people attend political rallies when there are musicians coming. So for us, we decided to join politics and use our platform to sensitize people to demand for their rights” he said.

They recently released the singer from Kitalya prison where he spent close to 6 months. He was arrested on the campaign trail with Bobi Wine who was a candidate in the January 2020 elections.

Nubian Li further said that the reason the government continues to suffocate the music industry is the fear that more Bobi Wines can rise up against the government.

Meanwhile, Ugandan artistes have also in the recent past few months been trying to fend for themselves. These have been tasking the government to do something for them because they can’t sustain themselves financially.
