NUP Has No Right To Criticize The EALA Election – DP’s Gerald Siranda

DP’s newly elected MP to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), Gerald Siranda, has come out to blast NUP for having the audacity to talk about the recently concluded EALA election.

Siranda who was the only elected non NRM and Independent member MP that won in the 9 member race said that the Kamwokya based parry has no right to talk about an election they boycotted.

“You lose the opportunity to criticize a process that you haven’t taken part in.”

It should be noted that NUP refused to take part in the election. These claimed that the election would be determined and dicated by the NRM since it’s a game of numbers.

Siranda also defended the manner in which the election was carried out. According to the DP secretary-General, the election was declared the way it was polled.

It should be recalled that there was chaos when a certain contestant made commotion by claiming that there was ballot stuffing. He even proceeded to punch a police officer nearby before they restrained him.

According to Gerald Siranda, the election managed to happen because DP went to court and fought for it to happen legally. However, in the past, several opposition politicians have been enjoying the seats unlimited.

“We are having this EALA election because DP went to court and fought for these elections, but over the years, the Munyagwa’s have been enjoying these EALA seats alone,” Siranda said while appearing on the NBS Eagle.

This is after Hon Mubarak Munyagwa had said that the election wasn’t free and fair. It therefore didn’t bring out the true purpose of the election as it calls for representation of all political parties.
