Parliament is today expected to pass the much anticipated NSSF Bill or rather the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Amendment Bill, 2021.
Deputy Speaker Anita Among, on November 4 assured the Chairman General of the National Organisation of Trade Union Usher Owere that they will pass the bill today.
‘’My chairman general, the committee report came to the House yesterday (November 3). They have uploaded it to the IPads of members to read. I also informed members that it will be debated and concluded on Tuesday (November 9),’’ Among told Owere in a tweet.
Owere had previously told the Deputy Speaker that the National Social Security Fund workers are not happy. This is due to the House paying attention to their NSSF amendment bill.
He kindly asked her to think about the interests of the workers also as important business in that House.
Owere showed gratitude when Among said parliament would pass the Bill on Tuesday. He thanked the Deputy Speaker for her quick response and actions. He also asked God to bless the works of her hands.
The Bill, which the 10th Parliament passed in February, returned to the House on orders from the President for reconsideration. Gender minister Betty Amongi tabled it for the second reading.
