Pastor In Canada Refuses To Officiate African Couple’s Marriage Because Groom Didn’t Have Necessary Documents

A pastor in Canada has stirred up controversy after he rejected the African couple he was supposed to bless on their wedding day.

The man of God, whose names were withheld, claimed that the couple was getting married for convenience instead of love.

In a viral TikTok video, a pastor in Canada is seen moving out of the church, refusing to take charge of the wedding.

“He doesn’t have papers; I’m not going to sit here and push my daughter. This is a marriage of convenience, not a marriage of love,” he said in the video, which has since garnered thousands of views.

The groom, who is reportedly a foreign national, didn’t have the necessary documents to prove his legal residency in Canada.

The Canadian Immigration Laws states that a foreign national can only apply for residency if they have been living with their partner for a period of 12 months.

It’s not clear whether the couple has been living together for the required period. The incident has sparked a debate on the legitimacy of marriages of convenience.
